Well, it's been 6 months since I have written..

Only today I noticed that I haven't written anything on my blog for 6 months. Out of sight and out of mind it seems. The COVID-19 thing has turned the entire word on its head.

And we at Spirit of Life have been impacted just a little too.

During this pandemic the Boutique now closes one hour earlier each day. But apart from that it is business as usual. The shop is sanitised several times a day and masks are mandatory in the fittings rooms for both us and you. And yes, we will supply you with your own new mask when you visit.

You cannot be too careful!

On a sad note, I read today that Kelly Preston has lost her battle with breast cancer after 2 short years. Kelly was John Travolta's wife and this must be a huge emotional upheaval for John and family. Their son Jett died at only 16 in 2009.

Of course the media always report on these sad events that befall the stars and A listers. But breast cancer is sadly a fact of life for many women all over the world. Fortunately as more research is being done all over the world including some first rate work here in Australia, survival rates are going up.

October is breast cancer awareness month, so if you get the chance attend a fund raising event for breast cancer research or even just give a $5 donation, please put your hand in your pocket.  Breast cancer touches so many lives. Those who are diagnosed are somebody's daughter, somebody's sister, somebody's partner or mother. it spreads far.

Breast cancer has struck in my own family, in Mark's family and Mark also lost a past partner to this insidious disease.

Dig deep, find $5 for breast cancer research.

On a positive note new stock lines are coming to the shop, stay tuned and I will get them up here as soon as I can.

Cheers

It's amazing.. you must see this.

After being in this industry for nearly 20 years, I can hostly tell you this is big. Our good friends at Amoena have introduced a new breast prosthesis that contains an air chamber. By increasing or decreasing the amount of air you get the perfect fit.

The idea is so good, both Helen and I are just over the moon about it. Stocks (lots) of this form arriving early February.

I even ducked into Mark's studio to make this quick video to talk about it. On Monday Julie Gallagher will be talking with me about it.. look out for that post too!

Cool spot on a hot and humid day..

Today in Brisbane has been very hot and humid. And seeing as how we have just received a new batch of scarves from our seamstress, I thought I might join Mark in his studio while he photographed them for me. His studio is so cool.. a nice quiet spot to work. No wonder he is always in there.

What Mark & his camera sees.

How it looks post production.

These scarves are our own design and manufacture and are very popular for ladies going through chemotherapy. You'll find more of these on our website, just here.

See you soon.

2020 and we've hit the ground running!

After a well earned Christmas break, Helen and I are back on deck and my how busy we have been.  Lots of lovely ladies coming in for bras, forms, swimsuits and swim forms. As fast as our stock comes in, it's going out again. This Christmas/New Year has been sad for Australia with all of the devastation caused by the bush fires. Mark & I have friends in some of the affected areas so we spent a lot of time sending emails and texts to ensure all are OK.

We bank with Bendigo Bank and they have a Bushfire appeal. I would encourage you to donate to this worthwhile cause. Just go without a coffee and send them even just $5. It all helps.

These guys are real heroes.

Next week I have Mark shooting some new styles in his studio for me and once those pictures are done they will be up on our website.

We have some exciting new products coming in 2020 and we cannot wait to be able to present them to you. So keep an eye out both on our website and also for our newsletters.

Helen and I wish you all the very best for 2020 and look forward to seeing you in the Boutique soon.

Cheers

Debra
